How do we get to God?

John 14:6 –

Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

– Jesus is exclusive – He is very clear He is the ONLY way.

John 3:3
Jesus replied, “Very truly I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again.”

1 John 2:22-23
Who is the liar? It is whoever denies that Jesus is the Christ. Such a person is the antichrist—denying the Father and the Son. No one who denies the Son has the Father; whoever acknowledges the Son has the Father also.

Our spirits are eternal. Whether we like it or not, we are in this thing called life. There is no escaping it, there is only a choice to be made. Even if someone does willfully escape it early, they still have to answer to God face to face and give an account for their life. No matter what, we could not escape God even if we tried or wanted to.

John 3:5
Jesus answered, “Very truly I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless they are born of water and the Spirit.

We were all born into this world by water (flesh), but that is just the beginning. The Bible says that we must be born again in order to go to Heaven one day – which means being born of both water and Spirit, because flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of Heaven.

We are only born again and receive the free gift of salvation (eternal life) by putting our faith in, and believing that Jesus Christ is God’s Son, who died on the cross for our sins and was resurrected by God three days later. He then ascended into Heaven and now sits at the right hand of God The Father as rightful ruler and judge of all mankind. That is the Gospel message. We have this hope in life. There is a purpose for us being here. God planned for us to be here. He has the answers we are all looking for in all the wrong places. Things won’t always be this way. Jesus came to redeem what was lost and restore what has been broken.

There is no such thing as going to sleep and never waking up. There is also no chance of reincarnation. When you die, the very next thing you will experience is standing before a Holy God to give an account for your life at the judgement seat of Christ.

Hebrews 9:27
Just as people are destined to die once, and after that to face judgment.

Matthew 25:41
“Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels.

So you see, though we will die physically, we will never die spiritually. We will live on in one place or the other. The Bible – which is God’s word to us – teaches us that it’s either Heaven or Hell.

To go to Heaven after we physically die, the Bible says we must be born again by receiving the salvation that comes only through knowing and accepting God’s only Son: The Lord Jesus Christ, who lived a perfect life and then died on the cross as a sacrifice to pay for our sins, so we don’t have to ourselves.

Sin may not be a big deal to you or the rest of the world, but it is to God. If it wasn’t, there would have been no reason for God to send Jesus to save us.

So, where else are we going to go? He alone has the words of eternal life. Flesh gives birth to flesh – but His Holy Spirit gives birth to our spirit and breathes new life in us when we are born again.

Why do we need a Savior?”

What have we done wrong?”

I think I’m a pretty good person, right?”

No.

His ways are not our ways – His ways are higher than our ways.

Isaiah 55:9
“As the Heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.
