#1 – It is a spiritual battle:

Ephesians 6:12 
For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the Heavenly realms.

#2 – The world thinks Jesus and the cross are foolish

1 Corinthians 1:18
For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.

#3 – The world can’t understand without the Holy Spirit:

1 Corinthians 2:14
The person without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God but considers them foolishness, and cannot understand them because they are discerned only through the Spirit.

#4 – The Bible warns that satan is the god of this age and has blinded them:

2 Corinthians 4:4
The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel that displays the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.

#5 – The worlds mind has been made dull:

2 Corinthians 3:14
But their minds were made dull, for to this day the same veil remains when the old covenant is read. It has not been removed, because only in Christ is it taken away.

#6 – Only when someone turns to Christ can they finally see:

2 Corinthians 3:16
But whenever anyone turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away.

#7 – Spiritually blinded people are, in fact, perishing:

2 Corinthians 4:3
And even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing.
